As of September 21, 2022 the original Goddess of the Sea has been slightly updated. The bottom curves are slightly rounder and the bag base is smaller. I’ve also lettered all of the pattern pieces and created a better flow with the pattern instructions to match the aesthetic I have now, as a more advanced bag designer.
Goddess of the Sea Shoulder Bag will captivate and mesmerize you with her beauty! Dressed up for date night or dressed down for a casual outing, everyone will want to know where you got that awesome bag! Easily customizable to add fringe or classic materials, this chic bag is a must-have pattern for all your creative tastes!
Now you can get the beautifully groovy chevron version of Goddess of the Sea! This version was inspired by my nostalgia of my childhood and a cool suede fringed jacket that I had.
This pattern is for the Intermediate Sewist. You'll need to know how to install zippers, determine interfacing requirements and optionally install rivets.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
ORIGINAL
• EXTERIOR & CONTRAST EXTERIOR: pliable vinyl/faux leather, cork, linen (it might get thick on the exterior gussets so keep that in mind)
• LINING & CONTRAST LINING: quilting cotton, linen or waterproof canvas
• WOVEN INTERFACING: Pellon SF101 or similar
• STIFF INTERFACING (for the bag base): Decovil Heavy
CHEVRON ADD-ON
• EXTERIOR & CONTRAST EXTERIOR: pliable vinyl/faux leather, cork, linen (it might get thick on the exterior gussets so keep that in mind). Vinyls such as marine vinyl will be too thick.
• FACING FABRIC: should be lightweight cotton that matches in color with the exterior gusset material. You will only need two scraps of this fabric.
• LINING & CONTRAST LINING: quilting cotton, linen or waterproof canvas
• WOVEN INTERFACING: Pellon SF101 or similar
• STIFF INTERFACING (for the bag base): Decovil Heavy

• (1) 18mm thin magnetic snap
• (5) - 1 1/2" O-rings OR 1 1/2" gate rings
• (5 - 15) - double-capped rivets (post length determined by your materials - approx. 6.5mm to 9mm)
CHEVRON ADD-ON
• (1) - 11" #5 commercially sourced zipper OR (1) - 10" #5 continuous zipper tape (and 1 zipper pull)
• (2) 18mm thin magnetic snaps
• (4) - 1 1/2" O-rings OR 1 1/2" gate rings OR 1" rectangle rings
• (5 - 12) - double-capped rivets (post length determined by your materials - approx. 6.5mm to 9mm)

• Pencil or similar marking utensil
• Wonder clips or similar
• Craft knife or seam ripper to cut slits for the magnetic snap/s
• Double sided tape (DST) or Washaway Wonder Tape
• Painters tape or washi tape
• Duct tape to cover magnetic snap prongs

• Hole punch for rivets
• Rivet press or rivet hand setting tools
