How luxe is the Driftwood Handbag?! 😍 This bag features an interior slip pocket that is split into 4 sections and a zippered pocket. The bag handles are attached with hidden connectors that can be used for vinyl, cork or fabric! The bag is generously sized without being too large. It can be made from various fabric mediums such as faux leather, vinyl, cork fabric or quilting cotton.
This pattern has a few new bagmaking techniques that will be familiar to those that sew clothing, such as facings for a couple areas. This pattern will be a very satisfying sew!
This pattern includes:
• FULL Sized Pattern pieces
• a Cutting List (to use instead of the included rectangular pattern pieces - to save the trees!)

This pattern is for the Ambitious Beginner / Intermediate Sewist. You'll need to know how to install zippers, sew curves and be open to trying new techniques. You’ll need to choose your materials appropriately and cut the exterior pieces mirrored.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:
HANDBAG
• EXTERIOR: vinyl/faux leather, cork, waxed canvas or waterproof canvas
• CONTRAST: vinyl, cork or quilting cotton can be used, but any of these will need to be interfaced so that they are similar in weight as the exterior fabric
• LINING & CONTRAST LINING: quilting cotton, linen or waterproof canvas
• FACING FABRIC (thin-but-stiff fabric for facings): quilting cotton recommended with starch added
• WOVEN INTERFACING: Pellon SF101 or similar
• FIRM INTERFACING (for the body of the bag): Decovil Light, Pellon Thermolam Plus (or fusible fleece or foam), or something that will help the bag maintain its shape
• STIFF INTERFACING: Pellon Peltex or Decovil Heavy or similar
CROSSBODY SUPPLEMENT
• EXTERIOR: vinyl/faux leather, cork, waxed canvas or waterproof canvas
• CONTRAST: vinyl, cork or quilting cotton
• WOVEN INTERFACING: Pellon SF101 or similar

• CONTRAST: 1/4 yard or fat quarter
• LINING: 1/2 yard

• FACING FABRIC: 1/4 yard or fat quarter
• WOVEN INTERFACING (20" wide / 45" wide): 3 1/2 yards / 1 2/3 yards
• FIRM INTERFACING: 2/3 yard
• STIFF INTERFACING: 1/2 yard
CROSSBODY SUPPLEMENT
• EXTERIOR: 1/2 yard
• CONTRAST: 1/4 yard or fat quarter
• WOVEN INTERFACING (20" wide / 45" wide): 3 1/2 yards / 1 2/3 yards
HARDWARE & SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS:
HANDBAG
• (1) - 26" #5 commercially sourced double-pull zipper OR continuous zipper (and 2 zipper pulls)
• (1) - 11" #5 commercially sourced zipper OR continuous zipper (and 1 zipper pull)
• (4) - 1 1/2" O-rings OR 1 1/2" gate rings OR 1" rectangle rings
• (12) - double-capped rivets (post length determined by your materials - approx. 6.5mm to 9mm)
CROSSBODY SUPPLEMENT
• (2) - 1 1/2" O-rings OR 1 1/2" gate rings OR 1" rectangle rings
• (1) - 1" slider
• (2) - 1" swivel clips
• (2) - double-capped rivets (post length determined by your materials - approx. 6.5mm to 9mm)
RECOMMENDED HARDWARE & SUPPLIES:
• Double sided tape (DST) or Washaway Wonder Tape
• Pencil or similar marking utensil
• Wonder clips or similar
• Hole punch for rivets
• Rivet press or rivet hand setting tools
OPTIONAL HARDWARE & SUPPLIES:
